Maroojazz is a female led Creative Art direction design studio based in Coventry. Mariam Abdurahman is the founder who has gained multimedia skills working in branding, editorial, outdoor murals and uses her digital illustrations as a medium for story telling. She was comissioned by the city of culture to exhibit her work as part of the unapologetic festival and was the first hijabi women of colour whose work was showcased at the new train station in coventry. Her Illustrative figures fearuring women of colour serves a purpose to empwoer women, and uses vibrant colors, and messages of optimism.
Her work aesthetic is often inspired by 90’s retro and vintage typography. When working with clients, She works collaboratively on their project to get the best outcome.
“World her story” serves as a dedicated podcast platform hosted by Tabitha Bear, aiming to share empowering stories of women warriors from history.

“Creative Taboo” is a board game with Illustrated cards that I created for my final major project. It was inspired by design stereotypes from within the industry and highlighted Individual experiences using humour. Through my research, I realised there was a gap in the market,and made this game aimed specifically at designers and people in the design industries.

The brief was to Create an artwork encompassing Pact coffee ethical
mission and farmer stories to display at their customers’ venues.
After doing a thorough research at the brand values and goals I was inspired by their story to Illustrate the process in which there coffee is organically produced by farmers.

The magazine showcases fun expressive illustrations inspired by small thing’s that matter in order for us to be happy.
